Crash Kings

Upon hearing “Mountain Man” on the radio, you might have started going through a list in your head, trying to decipher which band is playing. Is it Jack and Meg of the White Stripes? Maybe Ben Folds Five? I personally mistook them for Cage the Elephant. But that was months ago, and I hope by now you’ve learned from your mistakes. These guys are new, edgy and pretty damn talented. When you hear the words “I’m sipping on some sunshine,” you know who sings it: Crash Kings.

Band members Tony Beliveau, Mike Beliveau and Jason Morris formed Crash Kings in Los Angeles back in 2007. These guys are not your average rock trio. With Tony on keyboards and vocals, his brother Mike on bass, and Jason on drums, one can’t help but notice there’s something missing. There is no guitar. Surprisingly, they pull it off.

Unlucky with automobile accidents (hence the name Crash Kings), but blessed with some serious musical skills, the piano-rock trio have been keeping busy since their album released one year ago today.

The band has been touring coast to coast and back again, nonstop since August 2009. Their first single “Mountain Man” peaked at number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart on March 28, 2010. They’ve opened and performed with some big names including rockers Stone Temple Pilots, Rooney, Chris Cornell, The Bravery and Jet. The no-guitar thing seems to working just fine for them.

The band recently performed their first headline show in San Francisco at The Independent. Left Coast Live is beyond stoked to welcome Crash Kings to San Jose and see them perform live on the Main Stage Friday, June 25th.
