MAP

Left Coast Live is psyched to have the MAP (Mobile Arts Platform) stage at this year’s festival. The MAP stage is comprised of a large (20′x25′) inflatable video screen which will feature multi-media video projections by Bay Area video artist Jonathan Grover, with LCL bands playing in front of this big screen.

Jonathan creates video projections that sample from live video feeds capturing footage of the performers (in this case the bands on the stage), and mixes these images in with video textures and abstract images he’s developed. The program he uses is interactive and influenced by the live music itself (a live feed from the PA monitor is plugged into his laptop) which helps determine the images, patterns and color pallets that are projected.

They will also have two “Media Tents” set up in the area alongside the stage which will feature video pieces by local Bay Area artists played on monitors inside. These will be running throughout the entire duration of the event as they do not need it to be dark outside to view.

Another focal point of their stage area will be an art installation featuring Fal-Core, a modified 1963 Ford Falcon van that has been transformed into a mobile exhibition space, and a portable gallery space on a trailer that has been custom built for the LCL event.

The MAP stage will be located on South First Street, near San Carlos Street, in front of Caffe Trieste, and will run both Friday and Saturday.
