Tyson Amir

Not afraid of writing with his heart and soul, Tyson Amir from San Jose, California doesn’t shy around with his music. His words of love, justice, the past, and the unpredictable future flow smoothly against the rhythmic beats. And if your friends haven’t been gushing over Amir’s music, maybe a few words from Mos Def will do. Mos Def eloquently stated, “This brother is the Marvin Gaye of hip hop.” 

Tyson is a writer, activist, poet, emcee, educator, and most importantly a lover of humanity.  He effortlessly weaves all of the facets of himself into his music to create a beautiful tapestry that has the power to uplift and inspire the world.

Raised by two activists in the American Civil Rights Movement, Tyson’s music reflects a deep historical and cultural understanding of his people.  His intricate rhymes articulate the struggles of the past while engendering hope and possibility for the future. After four successful albums that have captivated audiences worldwide, several international tours, three movie soundtracks, and two documentary films, Tyson has established a stronghold in the hip hop community as one of the most dynamic rappers of his generation.
